How do you turn a one-bedroom maisonette into a light, airy and sociable Parisian style apartment? This was the challenge facing Shacklewell Architects. Their solution was to expand the property upwards - and open the space below - by creating a Mansard roof extension to house the bedroom and bathroom. The bottom floor was then turned into a large open plan kitchen/living/dining area.
Of course, flooring is a big part of any property transformation. So, to add to the apartment’s chic style, a wide-plank wooden flooring from Havwoods was selected to complement the new look. These single 200mm+ planks accentuate the feeling of space in large, free-flowing areas, a colour and finish that complemented the rest of the fixtures and fittings.
