A converted Ice Store from the 1980s, the Wharf Road project is a newly transformed apartment situated in the heart of London’s fast-paced Kings Cross area. Specially designed to meet the requirements of the new influx of high-end renters looking to move to the city, the brief was to remove and replace all existing flooring, fixtures and fittings.

The end result is a beautiful new rental, finished with bespoke cabinetry, new hall and dining skirting, flooring, wardrobes and a custom-built media unit.

With the flooring playing a key role in the overall finish of the project, the surface goal was to create a look that was simple and hard-wearing but with a big wow-factor to differentiate the apartment from the hundreds of other new builds in Kings Cross.

Using the darkened appeal of the Havwoods Lavardon board from the PurePlank collection, the outcome is a contrasting surface that works beautifully against a contemporary colour palette of white and grey, with elements of wood and pops of vibrant colour. The PurePlank range was a particularly suitable choice for this project thanks to its triple-layered construction bonded to two layers of softwood for stability and all-round performance.
