Product Used - HW1591 Antique Versailles
Designer - AEW Architects
Havwoods were specified from the start, with pre-finished Versailles panels and unfinished Gold Leaf planks and blocks being used in various areas throughout the hotel.
The husband and wife team which is Eclectic Hotels commissioned AEW Architects to help them transform a Grade II listed, Italian Renaissance style building in Manchester’s city centre after a 12-month search for a suitable product, but the interior design was masterminded by wife Sally.
Since there has been an abundance of new hotels opening in the area they considered it crucial to create a unique product with the highest standards, and the result is both suitably eclectic, definitely luxurious, and also notably personal.
There are some bespoke pieces, but much of the furniture has been collected from around the world. Over several years Sally also picked up art and artefacts from antique markets and costumier fairs in the city’s bohemian Northern Quarter and Manchester Craft and Design Centre, as well as commissioning local artists to create pieces.
Fabrics and wallcoverings are from the likes of Mulberry and Harlequin, with the colourways for each bedroom inspired by kilim rugs.
