For the New York expansion of Barking Owl Studios, Havwoods’ Relevance50 was selected to bring warmth and character to a contemporary creative workspace. Used in both chevron (HW3433) and plank (HW926) formats, the flooring creates a cohesive foundation across the lounge and recording spaces while allowing each area to establish its own distinct identity.
Setting the tone with Relevance50
The Hero of Smoky Grey
Relevance50 is the Hero color of Havwoods’ Smoky Grey color group, chosen to represent the depth, versatility and contemporary character of this palette. Its muted grey-brown tones complement the studio’s industrial beams, stone finishes and darker architectural details, while the natural variation of the timber prevents the interior from feeling overly cool or clinical.
One color, two distinctive formats
In the bright lounge overlooking Madison Square Park, Relevance50 Chevron (HW3433) introduces movement and geometric interest across the floor. Within the recording studios, Relevance50 Plank (HW926) creates a more understated aesthetic. Using the same color across two formats allows the flooring to respond to the different functions of each space while maintaining visual continuity throughout the studio.
