At Carne Mare at Pier 17 in New York, Havwoods’ Hartland (BPF13/1616/180) creates a distinctive foundation for the restaurant’s richly layered interior by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. The rustic-grade European oak was specially customized for the project with a deep Black UV Oil finish, distressed surface and bespoke length, allowing the timber to be installed in an oversized chevron pattern throughout the second-floor dining room.

Exploring the depth of Cocoa
Hartland sits within Havwoods’ Cocoa color group, characterized by rich, deep brown timber tones that bring depth and warmth to an interior. At Carne Mare, the bespoke dark finish intensifies this character, creating a dramatic contrast against canary-yellow leather banquettes, warm table lighting and the restaurant’s Venetian-inspired details. The natural variation of the rustic-grade oak adds further texture, complementing the scheme’s balance of glamour and more characterful materials.
Character and craftsmanship from the Henley Collection
Part of the Henley Collection, Hartland reflects the range’s focus on characterful timber surfaces with an aged and established appearance. Its rustic grading and distinctive surface texture made it particularly suited to Carne Mare’s interior, while the ability to customize the product demonstrates how the collection can be adapted to create a more individual design statement. Here, the oversized chevron format transforms Hartland into a defining feature of the dining space, complementing the restaurant’s dramatic waterfront setting.
