A Workplace Built Around Flexibility

Compass approached the renovation of its New York City headquarters with a clear ambition: to create a multi-use workspace that supports both brokers. Designed by Vocon, the result is a visually open environment that balances energy and focus, offering a range of settings for collaboration, quiet work, and informal gathering.

Defining Space Within Openness

Rather than relying on enclosed rooms, the design introduces central collaboration hubs that act as anchors within the open plan. These spaces provide moments of retreat without disrupting the overall flow of the office.

Framed with architectural precision, the hubs integrate glass, timber, and soft seating to create a layered experience. The use of wood across floors, walls, and ceilings establishes a sense of cohesion, while also subtly distinguishing these areas from the surrounding workspace.

A Material-Led Approach

Blanco (HW3814) from the Venture Plank collection plays a central role in shaping the environment. This platinum toned plank introduces a natural, contemporary warmth that complements the minimal palette of black, white, and glass, bringing balance and refinement to the space.

The flooring extends beyond the ground plane, wrapping into vertical and overhead applications within the collaboration hubs. This creates a unified architectural feature that draws the eye and reinforces the importance of these shared spaces.

As part of the Venture Plank collection, Blanco offers premium engineered construction, delivering the durability and performance required for a high-traffic office while maintaining a clean, natural aesthetic.

Spaces for Focus and Connection

The collaboration hubs are complemented by a variety of work settings, from open desk areas to more intimate booths and meeting zones. These environments support different modes of working throughout the day, encouraging both interaction and concentration.

The integration of timber elements helps to humanize the workplace, creating a more comfortable and inviting atmosphere for employees and visitors alike.

A Future-Ready Headquarters

The Compass New York headquarters demonstrates how thoughtful design and material selection can transform a workplace into a flexible, high-performing environment. By combining open planning with defined zones and durable finishes, Vocon has created a space that supports the evolving needs of a modern workforce.
