In order to improve control over build quality and costs Ben Cunliffe Architects have evolved from the more conventional project management role into a design and build organisation. As such we had supplied them with Havwoods timber on a number of developments before the practice became involved in one very close to home.
Ben’s family own The Gilpin Hotel and Lake House on Windermere, and who better to design a stunning and sympathetic extension on this beautiful site than their son? And stunning it truly is. Five detached cedar-clad lodges, each individually decorated and with its own private en-suite spa which includes a treatment area, steam room, rain-maker shower, sauna and hot tub surrounded by a private decked area – also Havwoods, of course – and walled garden overlooking the moors.
