Set against the mountain landscape of Bailey, Colorado, Lone Rock Retreat uses Cubara (HW9566) throughout its warm, nature-led interior. A rustic grade plank from the Venture Plank collection, Cubara's smoky grey tones and expressive natural character provide a cohesive foundation for the retreat's light-filled dining, lounge and gathering spaces.
A retreat rooted in its surroundings
Set within the mountainous landscape of Bailey, Colorado, Lone Rock Retreat is a 20,000-square-foot lodge designed by OZ Architecture for the Lone Rock Foundation. Created as a multifunctional destination for learning, connection and inspiration, the retreat brings together expansive communal spaces and quieter areas within a setting closely connected to nature.
Bringing the landscape inside
Floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping views across the surrounding landscape, filling the interiors with natural light. Throughout the lodge, a considered palette of wood, stone and other natural materials creates warmth and texture, while darker architectural details introduce a contemporary contrast. The result is an interior that feels refined while remaining grounded in its Colorado setting.
Smoky Grey character with Cubara
Underfoot, Cubara (HW9566) brings depth and character to the interior. Part of Havwoods' smoky grey color group, Cubara combines a sophisticated grey tone with the natural variation and expressive markings of a rustic grade plank. Its character complements the retreat's organic material palette while providing a consistent foundation across the different spaces.
Designed for versatile spaces
Cubara forms part of the Venture Plank collection, a versatile range of engineered European oak flooring designed to bring natural character to a wide variety of interiors. Used throughout Lone Rock Retreat, the plank helps connect dining, lounge and gathering areas, creating a cohesive flow through the expansive lodge while allowing the surrounding landscape and carefully selected furnishings to take center stage.
