This San Francisco Sunset home blends a Mediterranean-inspired exterior and modern interior. B Side Construction, a husband/wife design-build duo out of California, chose to use a combination of Havwoods’ Columba Herringbone and Chevron, from the Italian Collection for the flooring.
The design team immediately fell in love with the light wood style and color of Columba; which reminded them of Europe. “It’s timeless and mixes the old and the new effortlessly allowing us to have a warm modern look.”
Since this was a newly built home for sale, the designers needed to keep in mind that they were creating a style for someone who doesn’t live in the space yet. “We really tried to design the space as if we were going to live there ourselves. We were able to maximize every square foot by adding storage in creative ways and used esthetics that are ageless mixed with modern trends.”
As with all projects, there were definitely obstacles to overcome - the biggest one for the B-Side team: Patience. Higher end custom work takes longer to construct and often times unforeseen issues can come up on site, so having patience and embracing change helps.
The B Side Construction team believes that the right flooring can marry the rest of the design and create a nice flow throughout any space.
