See inside this hotel-turned family home, with rooms that had gone unused for 28 years. The clients were unsure of how to make the most of its generous proportions, beautiful French windows, and double aspect. They needed a usable family space that could provide flexibility and accommodate their large family who often stayed at their childhood home.
Clients Chris and Judi approached Yellow Wren Design with a challenge reimagining this dilapidated room. with poor-quality wall panelling, a cheap laminate floor, and an outdated fireplace. The goal was to create a functional and inviting space that takes advantage of the room's proportions and natural light. The clients wanted a design concept that would balance the room's height and width, making it feel more intimate, and to provide a neutral backdrop for their art and sculpture collections.
The transformation of the room was remarkable. The introduction of a bookshelf along the south wall grounded the space and balanced the proportions. New wall panelling in a vibrant blue by Lick paint responded beautifully to the changing light and made the room feel more intimate. The calming off-white walls provided a neutral backdrop for the clients' art and sculpture collections, and the striking fireplace and flooring from Havwoods added a touch of elegance and sophistication to the space.
The finished room exceeded the clients' expectations and became a stunning family space that showcased their unique style and collections. The high-quality finish and service provided by Havwoods contributed significantly to the success of this project.
