This glorious hotchpotch of buildings, originally 25 separate 400-year old canal houses, was restored to its position as one of Amsterdam’s leading luxury hotels in a four-year project under the guidance of Jacu Strauss. One of the most striking applications of wood flooring within the project was the use of HW2604-O Nature End Grain, with the distinctive pattern of end grain celebrating the natural beauty, durablilty and authenticty of real timber.

Timber surfaces within one of Amsterdam's leading luxury hotels

Formed from 25 separate canal houses dating back more than 400 years, the Pulitzer Hotel Amsterdam underwent an extensive four-year restoration to reclaim its position as one of the city's most celebrated luxury hotels. Led by designer Jacu Strauss, the project sought to honour the building's remarkable history while creating a distinctive experience for modern guests.

Luxury wood flooring plays a significant role throughout the hotel, with a variety of our premium timber products helping to establish warmth, texture and natural authenticity in every room.

Reflecting history with distinctive end grain

To fully understand the character of the property, Strauss famously spent a night in each of the hotel's 225 rooms, carefully considering how every space could feel individual while remaining part of a cohesive whole.

Among the most striking applications is the use of HW2604-O Nature End Grain flooring with the distinctive pattern of end grain celebrating the natural beauty of the real timber surface. Rich in character and steeped in tradition, end grain complements the building's historic fabric while providing the durability required for a busy hospitality environment.
