In the heart of Sister Bay, Wisconsin, the Dörr Hotel offers a year-round Nordic experience inspired by the area’s rich Scandinavian heritage. Designed to embody the concept of hygge, the Danish term for warmth, comfort, and contentment, the hotel merges modern simplicity with rustic charm.
Scandinavian Simplicity Meets Modern Comfort
The hotel’s design celebrates connection to nature through natural materials, clean lines, and inviting textures. At the center of this vision is the two-story lobby, a light-filled gathering space with floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of the village and bay. A dramatic fireplace anchors the space, flanked by striking firewood installations that emphasize both texture and symmetry.
Flooring with Warmth and Character
Canton (HW2108) from the PurePlank Collection brings a sense of warmth and organic character to the lobby’s atmosphere. The honey-toned European oak planks, with their rustic grain and natural variation, ground the expansive space with balance and warmth.
