A Colorful Portal to Africa in the Heart of Chicago

At Nando’s Michigan Ave, Aria Group Architecture + Design created a South African-inspired modern interior that’s as bold and energetic as the brand’s heritage. The space embodies Nando’s “Portal to Africa” initiative, which highlights emerging South African artists and artisans through furniture, art, and décor. The result is a vivid, multi-layered environment that feels both sophisticated and alive with personality.

Natural Materials, Global Craftsmanship

To balance the bright hues and graphic artistry, the design team selected our Quadro (HW3880) from the Venture Plank Collection. This brunette character-grade plank brings warmth, texture, and depth to the floors, anchoring the restaurant’s dynamic palette with the organic beauty of European oak. The wood’s natural variation adds authenticity and craftsmanship, echoing the handmade artistry seen throughout the space.

A Legacy of Collaboration

Nando’s Michigan Ave stands as a celebration of cultural connection, artistry, and design excellence, all grounded in natural materials and thoughtful detail. For over a decade, Havwoods and Nando’s have shared a creative partnership built on innovation and integrity, continuing to transform dining spaces into experiences that engage every sense.
