From a designer’s point of view, working on any Italian restaurant is a dream project: the brief allows total freedom, simply demanding something different from every site so that diners’ are offered a unique experience.

This is often achieved by taking on themes and iconic imagery associated with the location itself, and few locations offer imagery quite like George Skipper’s stunning Art Nouveau Royal Arcade in Norwich. A Grade II listed building situated just a stone’s throw from the city’s historic castle, its status and splendour created both problems and solutions.
The result, however, is a seriously impressive restaurant, offering around 250 covers and featuring a semi-open kitchen which, unusually, is sited on the first floor.
