The Moorings is a self-build project led by Maggie and Peter Clist, nestled in the Greensand Way in Surrey. This stunning building boasts of 3500 sq ft of living space. A bespoke extra wide (260mm) Amazon plank was specifed throughout the home and blends beautifully in with the oak beams and natural surroundings.
This stunning new build boasts 3,500 sq ft. of living space set within 1.25 acres of a natural escarpment of the Greensand way. One of the key design considerations was to ensure that the flooring would blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings and complement the oak beams of the entrance hall.
To achieve this, they selected Havwoods Flooring Bespoke Prime Grade Order, which was both robust and light, making it the perfect flooring choice for use throughout the house.
The design brief for The Moorings was to create a traditional barn-like structure that maximized the views of the natural landscape from all four sides. The brief also called for quality materials throughout, calm and restful interiors, and ecological functions.
The design concept focused on ensuring that The Moorings felt natural in the landscape, as if it had always been there. This was achieved by using natural materials. Surrounded by natural oak hedge plantings, some of a considerable age, it was important to reflect this material both inside and outside our house.
Despite the challenges posed by the clay soil and levels of the plot, the final project design was successfully completed. Havwoods Flooring was selected based on recommendations from friends, and proved to be the perfect flooring choice for this project.
The bespoke prime grade order HW964 flooring not only complemented the natural surroundings of the area but was also able to withstand the challenges of the site.
