A Five-Star Transformation
A Maritime Story Reimagined
DSLM Studio’s transformation of The Trafalgar St. James, recently shortlisted for the 2025 Mix Interiors Awards in the ‘Hotel Interiors’ category, draws upon the site’s rich maritime heritage. Once the headquarters of the Cunard Shipping Company, the hotel now embraces the romanticism of global travel through a design narrative titled Exotic Ports of Call.
This vision brings cruise-inspired opulence to life with layered textures, bold tropical influences, and curated cultural elements, aligning perfectly with the distinctive personality of Hilton’s Curio Collection.
Designing for Luxury
Crimson Hotels Limited commissioned DSLM Studio to elevate the front-of-house areas, including the standout Rockwell Bar, while also developing six premium basement guest rooms to expand the hotel’s offering. Having previously collaborated on other five-star projects, the synergy between client and designer allowed for a cohesive execution.
The interiors boast rich fabrics, earthy palettes, and dramatic installations — a visual journey through Caribbean colour and form that delivers both comfort and escapism for discerning guests.
The Foundation of Havwoods Flooring
A key material anchoring this immersive interior is Havwoods HW2121 Lattes from the PurePlank collection. Selected for its warm tones and natural texture, the flooring runs throughout the hotel’s redesigned spaces
