Studio Markless delivered a thoughtful renovation to a beautiful family home in Wimbledon, reworking the living room, nursery and master bedroom. Central to the transformation of the living space was the use of Columba herringbone flooring, from our popular Italian Collection.

A contemporary update to a beautiful home
This stunning home project in Wimbledon, led by Studio Markless, involved a focused renovation of three key rooms, each redesigned to reflect the rhythm of modern family life.
Our Columba oiled herringbone pattern, from our Italian Collection was specified to complement the rest of the flooring on the ground floor of the property.
The living room, once dated and disconnected, was reimagined with clean-lined built-in shelving, a new fireplace and a fresh palette that brought lightness and calm.
A calm and neutral base with pops of colour
"My clients moved in to this Edwardian property in Wimbledon in 2024 and employed me to help redesign some of the rooms that had been slightly neglected over the years, including the living room." said Rebecca Markless.
"In terms of the design, we were looking to create a calm and neutral base with pops of colour and keeping the whole feel light and airy to tie in with the Edwardian heritage of the home. The old carpet was the first thing to go and was replaced with this beautiful light oak herringbone flooring to merge the traditional with the contemporary, and tie in with the flooring on the rest of the ground floor to give a cohesive feel."
A modern reference to the arts and craft era
"We removed a very overpowering, modern fireplace and replaced it with a simple limestone surround and geometric tiles as a modern reference to the arts and craft era of the home as well as adding beautifully crafted built in storage either side. I hope to have created a warm and practical living space for this young family."
Using Columba in this beautifully considered project helped to create a calm and neutral base. Part of our Platinum colour group, the flooring was in keeping the overall airy aesthetic and in harmony with the property’s heritage.
