Dover Heights House is a confident reimagining of a P&O-style residence, where heritage detail and contemporary living are brought into careful balance. Led by Danielle Victoria Design Studio, the transformed family home pairs restored period character with refined spatial flow, anchored by Havwoods’ Alabastro Herringbone. Chosen for its Art Deco proportions and softly nuanced tone, the timber flooring brings warmth, rhythm, and continuity throughout, shaping a home that feels both elevated and deeply livable.
Reimagining a classic home
This meticulously reimagined P&O-style residence reflects a confident blend of architectural heritage and contemporary refinement. Led by Danielle Victoria Design Studio, the project involved a complete transformation of the existing home—reconfiguring the floor plan to seamlessly accommodate five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and two powder rooms, all unified by a renewed sense of grandeur and intimacy. The brief from the clients was clear: deliver a home where “wow factor” could be felt in every room, while still supporting the rhythm of family life.

Architectural services for CDC submission were provided by Potter & Wilson, with floors installed by Corvus Primesite, who also served as builder on the project. Styling by Jamee Deaves and photography by Simon Whitbread complete the project’s polished presentation.

Crafting atmosphere through timber: Alabastro Herringbone
A cornerstone of the home’s elevated interior experience is the use of Havwoods’ Alabastro Herringbone from the Italian Collection. Chosen specifically for its slimmer board profile, the format pays homage to traditional Art Deco proportions—an intentional nod to the home’s architectural heritage. For a residence rooted in P&O style, the herringbone pattern brings structure, movement, and craftsmanship, creating a timeless timber floor that anchors each space with quiet sophistication.
Flow through tone and texture
The Alabastro colour was selected for its nuanced balance of warm and cool undertones. This refined greige palette complements the home’s wall tones, softens transitions, and ties seamlessly into the Carrara marble thresholds featured throughout the bathrooms and circulation zones. The result is a harmonious interplay between flooring, stone, and architectural detailing—an approach that designers and fit-out specialists working across hospitality, residential, and boutique commercial projects will immediately appreciate.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the engineered timber construction ensures durability and stability, offering a practical flooring solution suited to high-traffic family environments while still delivering the elevated look of classic herringbone timber flooring.

A study in heritage, craft, and contemporary living
Dover Heights House demonstrates how thoughtful reconfiguration, period sensitivity, and high-quality materials can transform a coastal Sydney home into a modern sanctuary enriched by its P&O and Art Deco roots. With Havwoods’ Alabastro Herringbone setting the base, the project illustrates the power of timber flooring to shape atmosphere, enhance flow, and bring architectural character to life.
This home stands as a compelling example for designers, architects, and fit-out specialists seeking to merge heritage charm with modern performance—proving that timeless materials, when applied with intent, can redefine how a space feels and functions.
