In Westfield Bondi Junction, the Macpac retail space stands as a shining example of intentional design and material integrity. Architects Pennant & Triumph were charged with crafting a retail presence that truly embodies the Macpac brand - the enjoyment of the outdoors, quality and environmentally responsible. The Bondi Junction store was the first store to showcase the newest concept for Macpac.
At the heart of the design, it was important to illustrate the outdoors in their indoor retail spaces, and this was done through materiality. It was important for the Macpac brand and Pennant & Triumph to select products that told a story and therefore timber was an important element.
Clermont timber from Havwoods’ PurePlank 2.0 collection, was selected as a defining feature of the space based on its warm, understated blonde tones, natural texture, and sustainable credentials. More than just a surface, it lays the groundwork for the material palette, ensuring a cohesive and inviting atmosphere throughout the store.
Complementing the flooring, Havwoods’ Edgewater timber from the Urban Living collection was also specified as an integral material featuring in the joinery elements within the store.
The featured Havwoods products reflect the vision of the designers while aligning with Macpac’s long-standing commitment to quality and sustainability. It harmoniously balances the practical demands of a bustling retail environment with a tactile, organic essence that connects shoppers to the natural world for which Macpac’s products are made.
The concept store was such a success that it was rolled out across multiple new Macpac stores across Australia. Stephen, Havwoods Australia's Retail Sector Lead, worked closely with Justin Roderique, Director at Pennant & Triumph, to ensure supply of the required boards was available and delivered when required to deliver a seamless project.
