This elegant retail fit-out showcases how blonde timber tones, minimalist detailing, and seamless collaboration can transform a commercial retail space. The newly refurbished Michael Kors retail store, located within the impressive Chadstone Shopping Centre, sets a new benchmark for retail sophistication. Designed by 2M Creative and constructed by Leeda Projects, the space brings together understated luxury and architectural restraint, redefining what it means to shop in style at Australia’s fashion capital.
A standout feature in the design is the overhead installation of Havwoods’ Orleans timber boards, from the PurePlank 2.0 collection. Installed as a feature ceiling, this beautiful blonde-toned timber introduces warmth and depth, offering a striking yet balanced contrast to the polished concrete floors below. The timber ceiling draws the eye upward, establishing a rhythm and spatial elegance that transforms the in-store experience.
Chosen for its clean finish, subtle grain, and contemporary blonde tone, Orleans was the ideal timber to elevate the minimalist aesthetic. Its natural texture softens the space without competing with the brand’s luxe visual language. More than a stylistic gesture, the Orleans timber ceiling acts as a unifying architectural element across the store.
With a tight project timeline, immediate availability was crucial. Havwoods’ Retail Sector Lead, Stephen Zivkovic, worked closely with the designers and builders to ensure a smooth rollout.
