A Potts Point apartment reimagined by Mr & Mrs Elias, this renovation balances function-first design with a calm, contemporary aesthetic. Originally constrained by a closed kitchen layout, the space was reconfigured to improve flow, light, and liveability. Finished with Havwoods’ Allevard from the PurePlank 2.0 collection, the light blonde timber flooring introduces warmth and cohesion, anchoring the home in natural texture while supporting a refined, understated interior.
A function-first transformation
Tucked into the vibrant energy of Potts Point, the talented team from Mr & Mrs Elias brought to life this apartment renovation to create a home that feels serene, understated and quietly contemporary. Designed in close collaboration with the clients, this project reflects a desire for calm simplicity, shaped by a lifestyle lived between Europe and Australia.
Through an evolving design journey, the brief leaned toward a Japandi-inspired aesthetic but naturally developed to have a deeper focus on function-first with everyday liveability driving the architectural choices. The result is a space that feels effortless yet deeply considered in every detail.
One of the most transformative changes came through the kitchen. Previously enclosed, dark and limited in storage, the original layout restricted movement and connection.

Reworking the kitchen into an open plan setting introduced clarity and ease, allowing light to travel through the apartment and creating a more intuitive sense of flow.

Anchoring the interior with Allevard
A key contributor to the apartment’s sense of cohesion is the timber flooring. Havwoods’ Allevard plank was chosen for its understated character, natural tone and soft texture. With its light blonde tone, Allevard brings warmth and texture to the apartment without overpowering the overall palette.
From Havwoods’ PurePlank 2.0 Collection, Allevard has a matt lacquered finish, brushed texture and micro-bevelled edges, offering a refined softness underfoot, and grounding the home with a natural materiality that balances the crisp architectural elements.
Refining the details
Mr & Mrs Elias noted that working with Havwoods throughout the specification process brought confidence and clarity.
“Professional, responsive and supportive,” the team added, with product knowledge and attention to detail that ensured the flooring aligned beautifully with both the aesthetic direction and performance expectations of the renovation.
This Potts Point apartment is proof that when function leads, beauty follows. With Havwoods Allevard as its foundation, the home achieves a rare balance: warm yet minimal, practical yet luxurious, serene yet deeply human.
