A timber-led interior
Tucked in the leafy surrounds of Red Hill is a home defined by warmth and intention, where layered timber tones shape the atmosphere from the ground up.
From the builder GEM Taylor Constructions to designer Pasquale Cook, architect Anthony Pie, and cabinet maker Homestead Cabinets, the project reflects a shared love of natural materials and thoughtful detail.
From the outset, the vision was clear: create a refined yet inviting family home grounded in its surroundings. Natural light, honest textures, and seamless joinery were central to the brief. Timber was thoughtfully layered across flooring, cabinetry, and joinery to bring cohesion and depth to every space.
See why Bayonne from PurePanel was chosen and discover how tonal harmony across cabinetry, joinery, and flooring creates a unified interior.

The kitchen as a centrepiece
At the heart of the home is a sculptural kitchen island, designed to be both functional and a gathering point.
The solid timber top, colour-matched to Bayonne from Havwoods' PurePanel collection, rests on mitred veneer legs and a veneered frame, giving the island a furniture-like presence.
Steel reinforcements integrated into the hollow veneer sections ensure stability without compromising elegance.
Beyond the island, custom countertop display units became another standout feature. Praised by other architects for their innovative construction, these pieces show the attention to detail that runs through the entire project.

Clean junctions, precise tolerances, and thoughtful proportions elevate functional joinery into something that feels distinctly architectural. Every corner tells the story of the team’s dedication to quality and craft.
Why Bayonne was chosen
Picking the right materials was key to creating the home’s calm, cohesive aesthetic. After considering several veneer products, the team selected Bayonne from the PurePanel collection for its consistent quality, refined finish, and ease of use.
“We’ve worked with a range of veneers, but the Havwoods product stood out for its finish and reliability,” says Matt Comer, Homestead Cabinets Director. “It machines beautifully, the sheets are consistent, and the price point made sense for the level of quality.”
Bayonne’s warm mid-toned character anchors the interior palette, complementing the lighter flooring and connecting cabinetry, furniture, and finishes into a unified timber story. Even where the flooring isn’t Havwoods, the tonal harmony demonstrates how careful material selection can tie a space together effortlessly.

Craftsmanship through collaboration
Projects of this calibre rarely come without challenges. Colour-matching the solid timber island top to Bayonne required close coordination, careful sampling, and clear communication across the team.
“The Havwoods team makes our job so much easier with their knowledge of the product,” Matt notes. “They ensure stock is available, streamline ordering and delivery, and make the whole process smooth. PurePanel is pre-finished, easy to manufacture, and has real timber edging instead of plastic ABS. We totally recommend it.”
The collaborative process between builder, designer, architect, cabinet maker, and supplier ensured a result that feels effortless, though the work behind it was anything but.
