The Bergs’ transformation is a study in thoughtful restraint, where every material choice supports both atmosphere and performance. Havwoods’ Ranger flooring grounds the interior with a sense of quiet strength, offering durability without detracting from the venue’s relaxed coastal character. Subtle textures and a carefully balanced palette allow the ocean outlook to remain the hero, while practical design decisions ensure the space works seamlessly behind the scenes. Together, these elements create a bistro that feels intuitive to move through and enduring in its appeal, designed to serve the rhythm of daily service while honouring its remarkable setting.

Perched above one of Australia’s most recognisable coastlines, Bondi Icebergs’ newly renovated bistro, The Bergs, showcases how context, materiality and functionality work in unison to create a space that feels both effortless and unforgettable.

Flooring that anchors the design
Led by Sally Taylor Interior Design, the refurbishment amplifies the iconic views and identity synonymous with Bondi Icebergs. A palette of cool blues and sea-inspired tones anchors the interiors, softened by tactile finishes that bring warmth and texture.
Central to this materiality is Havwoods’ Ranger 13mm from the Venture Plank range. With its natural grain and resilient engineered construction, Ranger provides the ideal foundation for a high-traffic beachfront venue.
Designed for service and flow
The redesign enhances functionality with improved circulation, operational flow and the activation of previously under-utilised spaces—essential considerations for any hospitality fit-out.
Thoughtful planning ensures the space works seamlessly for both staff and guests. Intuitive layouts, clear sightlines and carefully zoned dining areas allow the venue to adapt effortlessly to different service demands, creating a calm, welcoming environment where movement feels natural and the focus remains on the food, the view and the shared experience.
The result is a reinvigorated coastal dining experience that is light and character filled, balanced with durability for a busy hospitality venue.
