FSC Forest Week 2026: Do one thing for forests
10 Sep 2026
This FSC Forest Week (21-27 September), discover how one considered action — from the products we choose to the materials we specify — can be part of a broader movement supporting responsible forestry.
What is FSC Forest Week?
Forests provide habitat for plants and wildlife, support communities and livelihoods, and play an important role in clean air, water and healthy soils.
For those of us who work with timber, there is another connection. The flooring, panelling and joinery we bring into our interiors all begin with a forest resource. How that resource is managed and sourced matters.
FSC Forest Week is an annual global campaign led by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), bringing together businesses, organisations and communities to raise awareness of responsible forest management and the role forests play in addressing challenges including climate change and biodiversity loss.
In 2026, FSC Forest Week takes place from 21-27 September, with a simple invitation: Do one thing for forests.

Do one thing for forests
The idea is to choose one practical action that can make a difference.
From choosing sustainably certified forest-based products to repairing and reusing what we already have, spending time in nature or learning more about where the materials we use come from.
For architects, designers and anyone planning an interior, that thinking can extend to specification.
Timber is a renewable natural material, but choosing timber is only part of the equation. Origin, sourcing, suitability, durability and certification can all form part of a more considered material decision.

Havwoods also holds FSC Chain of Custody Certification, with FSC licence code FSC-C009500. For relevant FSC-certified products, Chain of Custody certification provides a system for tracing forest-based materials through the supply chain, supporting greater visibility around their sourcing.
FSC certification is identified at product level across the Havwoods collection, making it easier to identify suitable timber flooring and panelling options where certification forms part of a project brief.

What's your one thing for forests?
There is no single way to participate in FSC Forest Week. Choose an action that feels relevant and realistic for you.
Your one thing could be:
- Look before you buy: Check the sourcing and certification of timber, paper and other forest-based products.
- Use what you already have: Repair, reuse, repurpose or buy second-hand where possible.
- Connect with nature: Spend some time outdoors, visit a local forest or park, get involved in a community garden.
- Ask about materials: If you’re choosing or specifying timber, ask where it comes from and whether credible certification is available.
- Start a conversation: Share FSC Forest Week with a colleague, client, friend or family member and encourage them to choose their own one thing.
For those working with materials every day, your one thing might simply be making responsible sourcing one of the questions you routinely ask when comparing materials.
