Give your Havwoods samples a second life
29 Sep 2026
A timber sample may be small, but its journey doesn't have to end once you've made your selection.
As part of our ongoing commitment to making more considered choices and reducing waste, Havwoods is introducing a Sample Return Service across our five Australian showrooms / studio.
The idea is simple: once you've finished with your Havwoods samples, return them to us and help keep them in use for longer.
Keeping samples in use for longer
Samples are an important part of the selection process, giving you the opportunity to see and feel the colour, texture and finish of our timber before making a decision.
But once that decision has been made, a sample that is still in good condition should have the opportunity to have a second life.
Returned samples will be assessed by our team and, wherever suitable, put back into use. The samples could be:
→ Returned to our sample collection for another client to use;
→ Used to support students as they explore materials;
→ Used by our own team for internal product testing; or
→ Even recycled for special projects.
It's a small change built around a simple principle: reuse what still has value.

How to return your samples
Drop off at a showroom
Simply bring your Havwoods samples into our Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne or Brisbane showroom, or our Rutherford studio and leave the rest to us.
Refresh your sample library
If you or your team have a Havwoods Wood Box and would like to arrange an update of your sample library, contact our team.
By returning samples you no longer need, you can help us reduce waste, extend their useful life and put them into the hands of the next person ready to explore the possibilities of timber.
Part of a wider commitment
Our Sample Return Service is one practical step within Havwoods broader approach to working more responsibly.
From responsible timber sourcing and recognised certification to material efficiency, product longevity and reducing unnecessary waste, we continue to look at how the choices we make across our products and operations can make better use of materials and resources.
